The Edge rescues an American family's backpack and sends it by courier to their hotel.

U2′s guitarist The Edge was the hero for an American family this past Wednesday, after they left a backpack containing their passports outside Killiney, Ireland train station.

When the family of American’s checked in at the Fitzpatrick’s Castle Hotel, the father, daughter and son discovered they were missing the backpack.

However, it just happened that the guitar rock star from Ireland – the Edge – was strolling by the station noticed the backpack and discovered it had the hotel’s address on it.

Edge left a message at the hotel for the family and then arranged for the bag to be delivered.

The hotel’s reception manager, Luighsighe Kenny, told the paper that the Edge also put a signed U2 CD into the bag which read: “Hope your journey ends well.”

“It was amazing because the father is such a huge U2 fan and went to see one of their live shows in the 80s,” said Kenny. “They didn’t want really want to publicise it because The Edge had done it privately, but they said it was such a nice story that they agreed to put their photo on our Facebook page.”
