Ireland's RTE Radio wins Broadcaster of the Year for second time in the last two years of the competition.

Ireland’s RTE radio has once again been named the world’s best radio station for the second year running at an international awards event in Manhattan, New York.

The national broadcaster beat off competition from 27 other countries — including the BBC and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation — to scoop the title of ‘Broadcaster of the Year’ at the New York Festivals Awards last night.

RTE also received a total of 25 other awards for programmes.

Meanwhile, Irish producer Zoe Comyns won the ‘Best Writing Award’ for her radio play ‘Flights of Fancy’ which was broadcast on Newstalk last March.
