More than 200 new positions were announced today in Dublin, Carlow and Limerick.
The new jobs will include support engineers, systems engineers, network engineers, software developers and technical managers.
The centre in Kilmainham is home to a team of engineers and developers which support the design and deployment of Amazon websites.
The company came to Ireland in 2005 and now has hundreds employed at the development centre.
So with Amazon’s good news there is additional hiring going on while product sales hub start-up Buyersclub.ie is hiring 40 staff.
In Limerick, Action Point Technology – a development by two UL graduates – has announced 50 new jobs, while Merck healthcare is adding 20 jobs in Carlow.
Paul Sweetman is from ICT Ireland said the high-tech sector was booming in Ireland.
“We have all of the top 10 companies in the technology sector with significant presences in Ireland,” he said.
“The Amazon jobs announcement really reinforces the strength of Ireland as a location for technology centres globally.”
