The boyish high-hair Irish duo simply known as ‘Jedward’ actively engaged in a bit of name-dropping as they jogged along Hollywood Boulevard to complete in the Los Angeles Marathon on St. Patrick’s Day.
Asked who they were by a local TV station, the ‘X Factor’ sensations replied: “We’re Jedward, we came all the way from the UK and Ireland… and we met Barack Obama in Ireland.”
Dressed in red, white and blue jogging shorts and jackets emblazoned with the stars and stripes, the Dublin twins, John and Edward Grimes, astonished fans after deciding to do the 26-mile run on a whim and empty stomach, with little sleep.
The “Stadium to the Sea” course for 27th Los Angeles Marathon took the lads past Dodgers Stadium, through Hollywood and Beverly Hills and finished up on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica right along the west coast.
After posting photos of the medals they received for completing the run on their Twitter page yesterday, the twins claimed they hadn’t trained for the event and ate only Raisin Bran cereal and pretzels at an all-night shop before the run.
They flew into Los Angeles the day before in order to walk the red carpet at the premiere of the latest ‘American Pie’ film and saw an ad for the run posted in the hotel lobby.
“We had no sleep. We have done no training. We have not planned this. But we just wanna do it because we are full of ‘Jepicness’,” (Jedward epicness) – so they’ve tweeted.
While confessing they were excluded from the VIP/professional area at the start of the run “because we’re newbies to the race,” the twins are no strangers to epic running times.
Long before they were a household name both brothers were accomplished athletes.
